On November 6th 2020, Damian Lewis, Lesley Sharp, Nyasha Hatendi, and Jason Isaacs, brought to life scenes from two Greek tragedies in an online production co-presented by the long established partnership of US based Theater of War Productions and BRAVEHOUND.
Theater of war productions is an innovative public health project that presents readings of scenes from ancient greek plays ~ Sophocles’ Ajax and Philoctetes ~ as a catalyst for guided discussions about the challenges faced by service members, veterans, and their families.
After an early performance of Theater of War, a general, a female general, stood up and said… She took on my question of “Why did Sophocles write this play”? And this general said:
“I think Sophocles wrote this play to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable”. Bryan Doerries.
