Treasurer
JOB DESCRIPTION
Board of Trustees – Treasurer – Voluntary Position
ABOUT BRAVEHOUND
Bravehound supports veterans transitioning into civilian life through specialist-trained support dog partnerships. Our work improves confidence, independence, emotional stability, family functioning and long-term wellbeing.
Each Bravehound dog is trained and supported through a structured progression model, ensuring the partnership remains safe, stable and successful.
Bravehound is appointing at least one new trustee to strengthen the financial and governance oversight of the organisation as it enters its next phase of programme delivery and growth.
PURPOSE OF ROLE
The Treasurer provides financial governance, strategic oversight and risk assurance on behalf of the Board, ensuring Bravehound remains financially sustainable as it scales a complex, high-cost service model.

THE TREASURER WILL:
• Provide independent financial oversight to the Board
• Ensure Bravehound’s funding model supports its long-term mission
• Safeguard the charity’s financial resilience as programme demand grows
• Ensure restricted and unrestricted funds are managed correctly
• Act as the Board’s lead on financial risk and sustainability
AND SPECIFICALLY:
• Endorse quarterly management accounts and cashflow forecasts
• Review assumptions behind growth plans, dog-training capacity and new commitments
• Advise on funding mix (grants, donations, sponsorship, reserves)
• Review renewal asks, contract commitments and long-term liabilities
• Ensure annual accounts and statutory filings present a true and fair view
• Support succession, reserves and risk planning
TIME COMMITMENT
• Approx. 4–6 hours per month
• Attendance at quarterly meetings
There is no manual operational involvement required.
