Countless soldiers owe their lives to Treo’s sharp nose and instincts, sniffing out insurgents’ bombs with his brave handler Sergeant Dave Heyhoe by his side.

Treo’s conspicuous gallantry saw him decorated with the prestigious PDSA Dickin Medal, otherwise known as the Animal Victoria Cross.

Little more than a year after his death at the grand age of 14, the jet black Labrador’s spirit is about to take shape in the form of a life-size statue to honour all service dogs.
