BRAVEHOUND BUDDY ROLE

When BRAVEHOUND source a puppy or dog, a BRAVEHOUND BUDDY is needed to care initially for the puppy or dog.

During this period, which will vary, the dog is introduced to the veteran and when appropriate the dog will gradually be transitioned from being cared for by a BRAVEHOUND BUDDY to being successfully partnered and living full time with a veteran.

Our dogs need consistent support over this transition period, and as a BRAVEHOUND BUDDY you will be fully supported by the BRAVEHOUND team.

The role will include caring for the welfare of the dog and also helping with training the foundations in preparation for the transition to be being fully cared for by the veteran.

BRAVEHOUND will carry out a home visit to ensure that your environment is suitable for this role.

As a BRAVEHOUND BUDDY you will attend a workshop which will outline the requirements for an assistance dog and also give you information on the training techniques.

You will need to commit to daily training with the dog of around a total of 30 minutes spread throughout the day and also attending training sessions as required.

As the BRAVEHOUND dog will be trained as an assistance dog, BRAVEHOUND require you to follow the guidance given in how the dog interacts with people and other dogs.

You will be given all the equipment and food required for their stay with you. All veterinary care requirements as well as public liability insurance will be covered by BRAVEHOUND.

You will be supported at the handover and throughout the stay as required.

The BRAVEHOUND dog may be with you for up to 4 months before transitioning to the veteran, but in some circumstances, this may be for a shorter period.
