The board of trustees wish to announce major news regarding the charity’s strategy from 2020 onwards.
The board has decided that the future of the organisation will focus exclusively on the provision of assistance dogs for veterans and consequently this means that non-core activities will come to an end on or before 31 December 2019.
Also, and with effect from the same date, Bravehound will give up our current home at Bishopton and will temporarily relocate dog training activities to Bishopbriggs in partnership with the professional dog training organisation Best Paw Forward.
Whilst this refocussing of the organisations purpose gives clarity for future activities, it is accompanied with the sadness of ending activities that have become popular and valuable to many veterans. There is particular sadness at ending relationships with the Horticultural Therapists and the many outstanding volunteers, without whom services at Bishopton could not have been provided. An enormous thank you to each of you.
As part of the new strategy the position of CEO will disappear. The founder Fiona MacDonald will continue to play a vital role in the development of the organisation.
The board have asked Bruce Smith, formerly CEO of Lothians Veterans Centre to oversee the development and implementation of our new strategy.
For our puppy walkers and veterans currently with a Bravehound dog, the news is that you will become even more at the heart of what we do. We will announce details of the first events at Bishopbriggs in the next few weeks.
